Well as you can see I obviously like football. I choose to follow the RSS feed on football because unlike many women, I actually played women’s football and I enjoy watching football period. There is a lot going on with the NFL and I want to stay up with what is going on.

I chose to follow this podcast on Afropop because I have taken a liking to music of many cultures and genres. I am of Brazilian decent, I have recently taken interested in learning about my South American heritage and culture. I am involved in Afro-Cuban Style Salsa dancing and I find myself listening to Afro, Latin, and Reggae music. As I read information on this Podcast it talks about the music, history and other things in the Afropop culture. In seems to be aligned with my interest and the things I have been doing and wanting to do.

I can tell you I missed a whole season of football because I felt so busy last semester. That site is a lot better than trying to go to espn.com all the time and sort out the variety of collegiate sports and professional sports. I was lucky to see a few NCAA football games and work a few Georgia games (concession stand).
ReplyDeleteFinding a podcast about the things you are interested is awesome. You should demonstrate the Afro-Cuban Style Salsa. I am curious to see how it is different to the standard Salsa.
I am still learning myself. Apparently there are many different types of salsa. Spanish (Spain) dances different from Puerto Ricans, Cubans. and then there is Ny Style, LA style, Casino style. But it mainly has to do with the names, how you start, and what kind of flare is put into it. In casino style, we also dance in a wheel (or circle) where we do partner switches and other cool things like that. Its is really cool and I really enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThe great thing about salsa is as the woman... if you mess up it is ALWAYS the mans fault.
On a side note: You will never see me dance salsa in class. lol. But maybe I can show you the basic steps. :)
